Indiana lives and dies by its sports teams/events, both college and professional.

Without success from any of those teams/events, this is a truly sad place to live. It could be worse, though. We could be Ohio, where Cleveland and Cincinnati's teams haven't won in a truly long time. THE Ohio State University has kept that entire population on life support for more than a decade.

Now, I do have one correction on this post: Our most cherished state treasure is the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. THAT would be the best thing to come out of Indiana, considering the track holds over 300,000 spectators for one race... not to mention the fact that we pretty much invented modern racing as we know it. (IndyCar, anyone?)

After that... you have Indiana University basketball, Notre Dame football, and the Colts.

You know what this long comment means? I have to make a response post in my blog... which I will do after Peyton Manning blows away the Saints :-D
